Every fitting in the New York range is dedicated low energy. This means that they will only accept energy saving bulbs. Some of the six fittings in the New York range are IP44 rated, which makes them suitable for use in your bathroom (zone 2).

New York is a very minimalist design, featuring cylindrical white glass shades, with closed tops.

New lamp - brighter and faster than ever before This light fitting uses the new T2 L1 spiral lamp, which only uses 10w of power. They also use instant start technology, which almost eliminates warm up times. These new lamps start instantly at a much higher light level than any other compact fluorescent lamp that we have seen, and reach 100% brightness in a much shorter time.

Low energy

This light fitting uses low energy L1 light bulbs. This makes it a dedicated low energy fitting so it meets the current building regulation limits for low energy lighting.

The CFL bulbs have a life time of upto 8 times more than a standard bulb; as such, they should not require changing for at least 3-5 years with normal use.

What is L1?

L1 is a new type of bulb connector. It is a special type of lamp cap that can only be used with Low Energy bulbs. This means that all L1 light fittings are dedicated low energy fittings. i.e. it is impossible to install a normal high energy incandescent bulb - you can only fit a low energy L1 bulb.

There are various designs and shapes of L1 bulbs, all of which use the latest in technology and provide innovative designs and some of the smallest sizes available today.

The special fitting uses two pins on the bulb and a third, non-metalic pin on the bulb holder. It's this third pin that prevents a non L1 bulb being used. L1 bulb holders are very safe too - because the electrical connections are on the bulb and not in the holder, when the bulb is removed, there are no potentially live connections to touch even for the smallest of fingers.
