Replacement bulbs > Spot bulbs > Gu10 type twist and lock

GU10 bulbs have a 2 pin connector with 'feet' at the bottom of each pin. The feet are used to lock the bulb into place when it is twisted in the lamp holder. Because of this fitting method they are sometimes called 'twist and lock' bulbs. GU10 bulbs all run at mains voltage.

There are a wide variety of energy saving options to choose from brand new LED models, to larger brighter compact fluorescent lamps.

GU10 bulbs have 2 pins with 'feet'. The center of the feet are spaced 10mm apart.

They are most often used in recessed downlights and surface mounted spot fittings.

GU10 bulbs are available with many different technologies and power levels including LED, Halogen and compact fluorescent.

L1 bulbs have the same electrical connector as GU10 bulbs, but are only used on low energy bulbs.

The difference is that there is a hole in the center of the bulb between the pins. This is for a non electric pin in the lamp holder to slot into. The extra pin in an L1 lamp holder prevents the use of inefficient halogen lamps while allowing the use of L1 bulbs in GU10 lamp holders.

The L1 lamp cap and lamp holder is a design from tp24.
