L1 Spot Bulb 10w T2
This is a new L1 lamp, with a spiral shape.
It's brighter, than the previous L1 spot lamps, and has a much shorter warm up time. Rather than starting at about 50% of it's full brightness and 'warming up' over a minute or so, this new lamp starts instantly at near 80% of the full brightness, and reaches 100% in a few seconds.
It looks quite different to the previous lamp, as it doesn't have a lens cover, so the spiral tube is visible.
It produces more light than the previous 11w version too, so it's more efficient.
In fact at 470 lumens output, this is the only compact fluorescent lamp that we know of that can be used in standard sized, spot light fittings that meets the current building regulations requirement of 40 lumens per watt. In our in house tests the lamps actually used just under 10w, so it's even more efficient than the packaging claims!
The new L1 lamp is a multi purpose lamp. The reflector is removable, so this lamp can also be used in other fittings where you would normally use a candle or GLS lamp.
In addition to all that, because the L1 lamp cap is backward compatible with GU10, there no reason why you shouldn't use this lamp in your existing GU10 light fittings. There's no need to install low energy lamps that take an age to reach their full output.
The only thing you have to watch out for is that this L1 spot bulb has a slightly wider diameter (53mm) than a regular halogen bulb, so if a regular bulb is a close fit, the L1 lamp might not be suitable. Like a lot of low energy spot bulbs it's also longer than a regular halogen bulb. Please check the dimensions carefully.
To put it simply, this is the brightest, fastest-to-start low energy bulb that we have ever seen.
