The truth is that due to the price of energy, the amount of energy that halogen and incandescent bulbs use and their life-span, a low energy bulb will save you more money than you think.

We have already entered the average price of electricity (according to the Energy Saving Trust) and the average number of hours a light bulb is used in a main living room or kitchen.  You simply enter the purchase price, expected product life and wattage of your bulb and an energy alternative and it will calculate the amount you will save per bulb per year.

Example – 60w incandescent replacement – save £9.46 per bulb:
