MR16 bulbs have a diameter of 50mm or 16 x 8ths of an inch. They are commonly used in recessed downlights, track lighting and other decorative fittings.
Sometimes they are referred to as GU5.3 bulbs as the center of the two pins are 5.3mm apart.
